TOOLS FOR PREPARING SUPERPRESSURE TUBING

Frequently, it is impractical to prepare the ends of the tubing for connections to various valves and fittings by means of machine tools.

Newport Scientific

has developed a set of hand tools for performing this work in place without entirely disconnecting the tubing.

One tool is provided with a cutter which has two cutting surfaces, one for

squaring

the end of the tubing and a second for cutting the end to a

conical

shape. The threading tool employs a split-type adjustable button die; it also consists of a die holder with two handles, a removable, tubing guide bushing, a bushing retaining screw, and three die retaining screws. Tools are available for ¼, 3/8, and 9/16 inch o. d. tubing. If a complete set of tools is required, both the cutting and threading tools must be ordered separately.

The design of Catalog No. 48-15000 Die Holder Assembly is such that it can accommodate both the button die and guide bushing for any of these three tubing sizes.
