: 4 3/8-IN O.D. MICRO SERIES

 

The 4-3/8-in o.d. Series Shaking Assembly is similar in general purpose to the Micro Series, and is so designated because the outside diameter of all reaction vessels in this series is 4-3/8-in regardless of the volume, temperature, or materials used in their fabrication.

This is by far the most popular size because sufficient quantities of materials can be processed to permit further study and analysis of the finished product without the necessity of large and expensive equipment.

Each assembly is a complete unit consisting of the base, double-pedestal shaking mechanism, reaction vessel, electric heating jacket with three-heat switch inlet and outlet spirals, pressure gauge, necessary valves and fittings, and 6 feet of high-pressure tubing.

The head (outside-cap compression type) is equipped with a thermowell, and the heater is equipped with a thermowell slot for insertion of a thermocouple.

The pressure vessel tilts through an angle of 30 degrees at 36 cycles per minute.

The drive link is made separable to permit the reaction vessel to be turned head up for filling or head down for emptying. Corrosion-resistant liners, automatic temperature controls, internal cooling coils, etc., are available at extra cost.

Modifications can be made to meet individual requirements, such as explosion-proof motors, gauges, safety devices, etc.


SPECIFICATIONS

Reaction Vessel: See MATERIALS, CAPACITY, and PRESSURE RATINGS.

Heating Jacket: 1600 to 3750 Watts, 115 or 230 volts. Equipped with a 3-heat switch.

Actuation: 1/3 HP., 115 or 230 Volt, 60 Hz (50 Hz Models will be Provided at Additional Cost), Single-Phase, 36 R.P.M., Gear-Head Motor.

Framework: The Framework Consists of a 20 x 22 In. Cast Iron Base, Two Cast-Iron Pedestals with Self-Aligning Ball Bearings, Trunnion and Clamp to Hold the Heating Jacket, Inlet and Outlet Spirals Fabricated from ¼-In. O. D. Tubing, and Separable Drive Link to Permit Tilting the Reaction Vessel Assembly.

Valves and Fittings: Valves and Fittings on the Shaking Mechanisms are of the 30,000 or 60,000 psi Class.

Included on the Inlet Side are: One Combined Inlet and Bleeder Valve, One Three-Way Connector, One Gauge Connector, One ¼-IN O. D. Tubing Spiral, and One Shut-Off Valve.

Included on the Exhaust Side are: One Angle Valve, One ¼-IN O. D. Tubing Spiral and One Shut-Off Valve.

With Each Shaking Mechanism is Supplied a Length of ¼-IN O. D. Tubing with Ends Prepared for Connecting the Gas Supply to the Combined Inlet and Bleeder Valve.

For Connecting Tubing to the Tank Valve, the Customer Must Use Tank connector No. 45-16072.

The Class of Valves and Tubing Used is: For Vessels Rated from 0-30,000 psi Use 30,000 psi Valve and Fittings and ¼-IN O. D. x 3/32-IN. I. D. Stainless Steel Tubing; For Vessels Rated from 0-60,000 psi, Use 60,000 psi Valves and Fittings and ¼-IN O. D. x 3/32-IN I. D. Stainless Steel Tubing.

Pressure Gauge: Six Inches in Diameter, with Solid Front, Hinged Back and Shatterproof Glass for Increased Safety. Maximum Reading, Approximately 50% Above the Rating of the Vessel at 100° F.

Weight: Shipping Weight of Assembly - 575 to 725 LBS; Net Weight of Assembly- 350 to 500 LBS.
